The Official "4-Mod-Fox" progress thread

Got most of everything cut in. Doing the door jambs and inner doors tomorrow morning. I got the doors sanded, but not the rocker and door jamb area. I didn't have enough time to finish sanding and taping to paint.

Thanks guys. Yeah it's Torch Red. I did the doors and the door jambs Sunday. Gonna get pics up soon, I covered the car back up for the week. I didn't have much paint left cause of all the fish eyes in the hood. I had to respray most of the hood. What I did was I had some Vermillion Red left over from my truck years back. I sprayed one coat of that first to cover. Then I spray a couple light coats of the Torch Red, then a nice heavy final coat or Torch. It just worked out.

Figured since you're the only other person that carries while you work on your car i figured you'd like to hear this story of what happened to me while i was painting this weekend
There was thise white early 90's Cadillac filled with "people" sure you can figure that out, kept driving by the shop for about 2 hours, this is a offstreet industrial complex minimum street lights no activity on the weekend, every 10 minutes or so it would drive about 5mph in front of the shop, stop and stare at us, then slowly drive away, first 10 times or so it had about 6 people in it, next couple times 4 people, then 1, then 2, the 4 again, after going on for a few hours i closed the gate and waited for the worst, instead of confronting them myself this time i called the cops who were there in seconds, they tried to run down an endless street and the cops nailed them they took 5 people into custody, confiscated guns, lots of tools such as prybars, bolt cutters etc etc, cops say they were suspected of committing a string of armed burglaries in the area, they let the driver go because he claimed he didnt know the passengers  car came back about 35min later and parked directly in front of the gate, i assume he knew i called the cops, as soon as he parked i walked to the gate his door opened and i gave a peak as to what was on my hip (my uber badass 1911 with all the fixin's) he hopped back in the car and took off down the street and didnt return, so tht people is why its a good idea to carry on ANY private property you may be residing in that you can get away with, i thank God nothing happened at that i had my good ol' .45 with me

Nik---I have done white, black, and yellow. I think the only other color to go with on this car was red. I wanted Torch Red versus the original Red on 90's Mustangs. Nothing wrong with them, just love Torch Red.

Crane---That is an effed up situation. Glad the cops responded. What exactly do you do, or where to do you work on cars? PM me if you want...

But seriously, do you think you'll ever do a pushrod car again? Just curious.

Would I build a pushrod car the way I have built Hack and Modfox? No.

Would I fix a car with a stock pushrod motor already in it? Yes.

I just love the "wow" factor of popping the hood on a fox body and seeing people's faces when they see a mod motor in there. Especially that way I do it. I see mod motors hacked into foxes with carb's on them, but that's not how I roll, and it does nothing for me. You gotta have the whole nine yards.

Truth. Its a lot like back when people didn't understand EFI in the 80s and 90s and would scrap it all for a carb. It gives it a half-assed feeling.

Right. Everybody thought EFI was junk and you can't make any power with it. If they could only see today back then. Tiny 4.6L engines with blowers making 500RWHP to 800 or 900RWHP+ LOL!!!!:rlaugh:

With this comment i'm very tempted (as always) to junk my 5.0 and do a swap to my car lol

Man, I'm just the opposite. With the talent, parts resources, and working facility Matt has, he still talks about how difficult and cumbersome this swap is. After following both Hack and this car, I've decided that if I ever want a mod motor, I'll just buy the entire car, haha.

Yeah....I'm done with this crap. I said never again after Hack Job, but I figured since I have a Cobra motor this time, it will be a tad cooler. It's just so time consuming. At least this car didn't need the body work and body conversion stuff the Hack Job needed. Being an 81, lots of new metal was welded in the quarter panels and lots of holes had to be drilled in the fenders and quarters for the new moldings. PITA!! This car wasn't nearly as hard. No rot...no holes to drill and 97 parts are closer to 91 parts than 01 parts were to 81 parts. LOL
