Holy crap Matt you're moving quickly on this one! The car looks beautiful but I'd expect no less from you by now. I can't wait to see this thing all buttoned up!!

Lookin good man! That ful-thane single stage really lays nice. I sprayed Centari a couple weeks ago and fell in love! It layed like glass! Get her together so we can see the final product!

Thanks too all of you guys above who posted up!! I feel pretty good. I blocked those light runs down with 1000 grit and they went flat. **phewwww** There is a lot of paint on this car so it turned out nice. Tonight I plan on staying a while because it's gonna rain until midnight!!!
MAC89---Centari?? Name is familiar, never sprayed it. How does it compare to bc/cc or single stage? What would you use that on and why? Curious...
And yes, MAC, that single stage does lay nice. I used an HVLP gun spraying around 23-25lbs. First time I've used an HVLP. Single and stage and this new gun is the reason I think I ran those two spots on the right side. Plus the lighting isn't that great on that side. I used the same paint on Hack Job (with my old gravity non-HVLP) and didn't have a single run. I was sooo pist when I saw that happening, but hey...they're gone now. I WISH I had a booth to use like you did. It's funny because the guy at the shop next door has a booth and he saw it yesterday and was like, "This looks great for out in the open room, wow...hey next time you can use my booth to cut down on this dust." Yeah...AFTER the fact I painted he stops in. lol

Centari is a old single stage enamel. I sprayed a 68 GTO Endura bumper with it and it layed so flat. And if you have to respray it like I did, just fix your run out and respray with in 48 hours and you don't even have to scuff the entire panel. I'm gonna be doin a 95 GT bumper and side skirts with it soon cause its very durable and flexible and stays flexible.
Gotcha...now I remember. So can you still wetsand that stuff and buff?

Even though I wasn't keeping it, I wanted it to last long for someone and sure enough the guy who bought it was buying it for his wife and came from New York. He said she had to have a yellow vert.

Yea I still had to nib that bumper and it buffed right up, just like clear.

Thanks. I was very happy with how it came out. And I loved how the yellow didn't show much, so a quick buzz down with 2000 and a quick rub out and called it a day. The profit was great for how little work I did. Right around 1,500 bucks. I worked like 4 or 5 three to four hour days. Didn't ask a whole lot, just priced it right at 5,500 and got 4,850 cash for it. 3 day sale too, so I didn't wanna pass on that offer and hold out for another 200-300 that I might not get.

Got most of the car wetsanded. I always do this by hand but not this time. I bought a 3M Hook-It Trizac kit for my DA. I bought 1500, 3000 and also an interface pad so I don't have to worry about burning through edges.
I like how the jackass before me painted this car 3 times with the quarter windows IN so that is why there is an outline there. I pulled those windows on every car I paint.
Quick pass with 1500
Went over it again after a wipe down.
Fender halfway done. This thing is gonne be FLAAATTT!!!!
More to wet sand with 1500 Friday night. When that is done, time to hit it with 3000 to make it really fine

Thanks. It is about an inch lower after the exhaust, windshield, hood, gas tank and 10 gallons of gas. It still needs a spare, jack, and the entire interior. It also needs the front bumper, header and lights. It should come down more when I drive it too. This guy I know builds all these hot rods and says once you pound on them around town they always drop since the bushings and everything have been unloaded and or tightened in a different position than ride height.
What do you think of its stance right now?? It's not slammed, but it's kinda close to stock. Also...keep in mind those are 255-40's. I need 245-45's or 255-45's so there is actaully not enough tire in that front wheel well.

So that is 1500 on a DA? I bet that takes a fraction of the time to get the peel out. The problem with wet sanding by hand is it takes so much time. And time is money when I'm doing it for a customer.

Sometimes it can be a bad situation when you wet sand threw to the primer. Nice thread, got any new pics of the 96-98 Cobra motor stuffed in that fox, what are you using for exhaust besides the factory exhaust manifolds? I saw a couple pretty cool 03-04 Termy Engines stuffed into some nice fox bodies, the nicest was an 1986 Capri with a whipple.
Yes sir. It takes a lot of time off the job. It also saves your shoulder and hand from feeling like it's gonna fall off. I can't wait to see it rubbed.
Yeah, that's the plan. 3000 is next. I didn't buy the Trizac 3000 compound. It was 45 bucks. I bought the PEerfect It II for 19.98. I've used it in the past and I know it's good, plus I'm gonna hit it with a couple other polishes afterwards.
Yeah, you don't wanna burn through, I've done that before it sucks. I'll have new pics of the motor when the car is done. Right now it's covered up with paper and tape for when I rub it. And I don't have the CAI installed because I need to trim the opening in the apron. I wish I had the factor rubber tube. Exhaust is stock manifolds, Bassani o/r X-pipe, Magna Flow cat-back. It's loud but I did pull it outside the building once and it is much quieter than when it was inside and backed up to a wall. LOL!! Obviously, an 03-04 motor would be the best, but the cost of those wrecked is thru the roof and they are hard to find at auction. I'll be happy with this car. Just gonna be a cruiser.
Been super super busy at work since our driver had a stroke, so I've been delivering. Haven't been at work for like 2 weeks.
Small update....painted, rubbed, far from being fully detailed.....it's dirty, it has light haze, some swirls, the engine bay is filthy, but I do have brakes, I do have a lot of work to do, but I also got a lot done as well....check her out.
Not sure if I like these big tips...still have to trim them up and fit them better, but for now this is how it is.
Car is not level either because our parking lot is very unlevel.
Gonna rub on it more once it gets home to bring it up to more of a deep shine, clean the engine bay, assemble the interior.
