Here is my overall image of how I want the car to come out, still debating on the dip down with the orange. Not sure if that's going to be included when it comes down to painting the car.

Here are some pics of the car when I got it and how the engine bay has progressed. I will be working on cleaning and painting some of the engine brackets this weekend so I will try to get some pictures of that stuff up on here. I hope you all enjoy. Sorry for the mediocre pics, all I had was my camera phone at the time.

Keep the orange, you have to have a "breaker" color on a two tone paint job like that IMO, and orange is perfect on that combo. Just leave the dip down out.

Yea, orange is my favorite color. Leaving it just silver and black would look really cheap. I love the contrast with the orange. I kinda like the dip down, just not sure if I'll like it once its on the car for good. I have a long time to think about it til its painted anyways.

what about if you used another small black pinstripe sorta deal to seperate the orange and silver and keep the dip? just orange against the silver with the dip looks kinda unfinished to me and needs an accent/seperation

either that or lose the dip and just keep the fine orange stripe

Well, the car itself hasn't been touched since I left the old body shop. BBBBut, I did start rebuilding the engine, it didn't need it (had only 35,000 miles on the rebuild) but what the hell I got my hands on a set of stock forged pistons (had sealed power hypereutectics in it) so what started out as me just cleaning and repainting the engine turned into a full blown rebuild. Im honing the block tomorrow during lunch (Thats why I'm calling this car "Project Lunch Break") In two weeks I will be ordering my new bearings/timing chain/piston rings so I can put the engine back together. I have all the accesories painted and ready to go so Im just waiting for parts. I will post some pictures of the engine once its all back together and looking pretty. I'm hoping that the car will be in the shop in a month or so so I can finish doing the engine bay and then paint it and get the suspension and motor in so I can fire it up!!!! Its slow progress but what can ya do when you only have saturdays and lunch breaks to work on it.

Leave off the dip in the Orange, but stick with the colors. As much as the two tone is beat to death, people (including you) still love it everywhere you go.

Progress looks good, now get back to it and post some pics .

The blocks painted and I will be painting the heads tomorrow so the engine is almost ready for re assembly. Then the car is going to get in the shop and work on the engine bay will resume. I cant wait to get this car together so I can get all these parts out of my room. lol

I finally got all the parts I needed for my front accessories so I took some pics of that stuff. Its gonna suck to drive this car cause I'm gonna have to keep up on the maintenence like crazy. Its all worth it tho. I also got around to yankin the 4:10 rear out to be rebuilt and threw in a 2.73 real quick to roll the car around. While the rear was out I also decided to weld up the tubes. I send it out at the beginning of the week to get sand blasted. I may also weld in some braces from the tubes to the center section. I also installed the V8 fuel lines and 255lph fuel pump from my 89 last weekend.

Today I painted my valve covers. They are going to match the outside of the car so you can see how the car is going to look. I'm using Reflex Silver from a 03 337 GTI, Competition orange and 2004 Ford Black, I also sprayed blue pearl over the black and the silver, it doesn't show up on the silver unless its night time. I really like how they came out and took my sweet ass time with em. Let me know what you guys think!!
