Cleveland: If you can also give any tips on the proper launch its appreciated.

Since Im running with an automatic trans the launch procedures are a bit different over a manual. This past trip to the track I decided to brake stall the vehicle @ about 2500 but I continued to do that all night. The next time I go I will be playing with the rpms a biut to see which nets me the lowest ET at the end of the 1/4. If I can hold it I will try 3000 so I can hit the Nitrous right off the line. Adjustable "Race" Lower Control Arms should be here by the end of the week so I hopefully wont have traction issues anymore.

just cause the tire says 51psi doesn't mean you put 50 in it..... that's the absolute max you should put in it, it's a common mistake alot of people make 32-35 psi is common for almost all cars really.

Okay, I think we all understand eachother already. I will continue to run high psi around town for the sake of my gas mileage and I will drop it down to 25 when at the strip.

Now back to the thread.

Hey Dan...50psi is the max not recommended... Just messin with you. As for myself, I've always had 36psi. When I would race I left it at 36psi as well, but air the front's up to 50psi. I tried different psi's at the track and would only loose trap speed if lower than 36. To mention...too much psi on daily driving will cause excessive wear in the center of the tire. Not trying to kick you while the previous post's have already beat you down.
I don't have all the time slips handy, but my best time has been 12.8 at 106, N/A and it was too hot. My pinion angle has been way off. I've dynoed at 313rwhp/327rwtq. I've recently purchased some 15" Bogart wheels and 28" ET Drag slicks. I should be able to beat down my times to maybe the 12.5's or 12.6's. I've set my pinion angle to -3 now. We'll see!

4.10 gears will be going in soon as well as a spec stg 2 clutch and slicks. With these mods and some cooler weather I hope to me mid 12's.

Wow!! Awsome 1/8 ET. And great overall performance! That's where we see that drag racing begins with putting down the HP to the ground. first error is to crank up 100 hp more with NOS without having good tires on...the NOS will only patch for the time you lost spinning in the box. Launching at 4000....God I'd like to be able to do it!! I think I'll get one set of those drag slicks...much more effective for the bucks invested than any power adder...for first mod. The 4.10 gear is in fact I think a must. When you're able to put all the power you have down the track....therefore you begin thinking investing in power adders...my opinion.

Have a good day!

Ok Cleveland:

Here are the numbers with my first time running the 05 GT 5 SPD down the 1/4 mile.

Saturday Aug 13th 85 degree's in Fontana, CA

I ran a total of four times my best time was my last run around 9:40 PM. Current mods are. 1) Steeda underdrive pulleys 2) Magnaflow Magnapack Exhaust

I'm currently at 284 RWHP and 301 FT TORQUE

R/T .442
60' 2.323
330 6.200
1/8 9.384 MPH 79.40
1000 12.096
1/4 14.383 MPH 99.02

Running street tires BFG KDW2 35 PSI 295 X 35 with Boyd Cottington Smoothie II's and kept spare tire in trunk.

Do these numbers suck for a rookie or what?

It's not impossible! Seeing is believeing. I don't have the specs on them, but Justin at JPC has the inside on these wheels.
http://www.jpcracing.com/store/
He holds the specs for them. If you call Bogart, they'll tell you to call Justin. I do know of another guy up in Mass. that has a set and he got them from someone else though. Not sure who. Hope this helps.

Not bad, I would just keep practicing.
A friend of mine in his 99 GT ran a 9.3 in the 1/8 with just a catback... There is alot more in your car. Keep at it!

Actually that isnt that bad. Get you 60' time down to a 2.0 and you have yourself a decent time.

Dont wanna give this guys secret out but I have seen an 05 gt on 20's with the bfg kdws, i think 285's in the rear, with that aluminum cold air kit, rear mufflers and dyno tune.

His times were

8.66 @ 81mph or so

i think with a bit better driving it could have done 8.5 or 8.4

What tire size were you running on? Thats really good all stock, that one guy had some slight mods, but i thought the car should have been a little faster.

I cant wait till i get my 2006. Im waiting for the 40th anniversary of my first stang and first car, my 66. Its been a hard time being so patient! lol

Wow! I also come from Sherbrooke and I saw an identical Stang once at Deauville. I was the guy in a black wingless 1999-2004 Stang, was it you?

Nice race. I had a hard time keeping the power on the ground.
