The RATTLER Lives! 1966 w/ 17" Bullitts!

Hello All:
Been doing a lot of work on my car for years now, and finally got around to showing it off on the net. I put up a site with tons of pictures of the wheels and clearance for all to see. Please feel free to visit and see what 17" wheels on a 66 look like. I have had this car for 15 years. It has gone from a 289 2 barrel w/C4 to its current rendition. I put the T5 in back in 1996 before most did this conversion. Last year I put in a FULLY hydraulic throw-out bearing assembly. I hope to make the site more easily navigatable in the near future. What do you all think?

About the JMC setup...

As for the JMC dual master cylinder setup.

• Better than old drum setup, however I do not know if the benefit is attributable to the new MC or the granada discs.
• PITA to set up. Instructions call for a 3/4 MC in front for discs with a 2lb residual valve. 7/8 for rear drums with no residual valve. With this setup up I had horrible grip in the front, rears locked up right away with no lock up in front. Called CNC direct and they told me the same thing. A lot of mechanics said to reverse the MCs as the discs (granada's especially) require the larger MC. Did just that, lost the 2lb residual valve for the fronts, and the thing works a lot better.
• Bleeding is a tough as CNC actually told me to bleed them all at the same time! I used a vacuum bleeder.

As for the hydaulic cluth setup, I made a custom kit. I used the top half from JMC (another CNC MC) which has the canted MC, and for the bottom I used a McCloud hydraulic throwout bearing from PAW. Mustang Monthly ran an article about 3 years ago on a generic setup like this, however I did not want to worry about pedal rod angle and went with the JMC uppr MC which is designed just for this application. BEST MOD ever. I have run a toploader and the T5 in this car both with the Z-bar linkage and never had good pedal control. It was either on or off. With the hydaulic setup it is like night and day. Wonderful compared to the old setup, and it cleans up the engine compartment as well.

As for the FASTENERS in the engine compartment, they are almost all chrome hex heads or stainless steel. I bought them from GT350clone over at Mustang Steve's website. They are great! Miscellanious ones I just bought at ACE Hardware.

As for the remote oil filter setup, it is a Transadapt kit from Summit. I actually have a problem with one of the hoses leaking. The kit comes with prefabbed lines that have one fixed end and one spinning end (both brass) and the spinning one on one hose leaks. In the process of calling Summit and getting a replacement. Other than that it works great, you just run an additional quart of oil for the extra filter. I have not noticed any loss in Oil pressure.

Next project is to retro fit black armrests from a 1990 GT onto the doors with power windows and locks.

Yes, that is Ivy Green Metallic, the original color of the car. When it was painted back in 1997 I was tempted to change the color, but stayed steadfast and went original. It is a beautiful color, dark and rich. Looks black at times. Thanks for all the compliments!

Nice car, your photo is hanging on my wall at work along with the order slip for my wheels! I had your car as motivation for my recent wheel project. Nice to see I've garnered your approval.

There are so many Mustangers with questions on fitment of 17's on 65/66 cars and so few pictures and info available other than the famous Dodgestang's site. I hope my site can be of help in the future to others.

I also liked the charcoal ones, actually bought a set, mocked them up while the car was laid up for the brakes, and the wife 86'd em. She said Chrome or nothing. Needless to say it was one of her better moments as I thought she was just going to yell at me for buying the charcoal ones, instead she wanted me to sell them and spend more money on buying chrome ones.
