Hello all,

My wife has a 2004 V6 convertible (Screaming Yellow with white top and interior). She loves the car but hates the ride. It tends to transmit every bump and lump in the road. We have stock sized Cooper Zeon 225/55R-16 tires that only have 2000 miles on them. It has 51,000 miles on it so it isn't a high mileage car. Anyway, we are looking for suggestions on struts. If what it takes to smooth it out is replacing the springs then we will do that also. I wouldn't think that the stock springs are too stiff (three of the four springs still have their Ford part number sticker wrapped around the coils). She isn't into performance so a canyon carving setup isn't in the cards. She is looking to smooth out the ride but not make it totally mushy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Craig

Bilstein or Koni struts/shocks.
A close inspection my indicate a problem with other key components. I have been researching and contacting the best in the business in regards to a comfortable ride so my recommendations:
Ford Racing "F" springs (Specifically made for V6 only)
X2 Ball Joints by STEEDA
Caster Camber Plates by Maximum Motorsports OR J&M Caster Camber Plates.
STEEDA Bump Steer (Optional safety choice)
Hope thats helpful, This combo will give you the best possible ride to date.~*And yes, it's just my opinion everybody. Anyway- Good Luck! Have Fun!!

Thanks for the info. I just did an inspection of the suspension and steering components and all looks in good shape. Nothing loose or mangled looking. I think that it a case of lousy shocks. Think we will try them first and change other things as necessity/funds appear. How do the Ford Racing "F" springs differ from the stock ones? Are they progressive?

They are progressive yes. They will lower the car about an inch. Have you done anything with it this week? Good luck with it all.

Thanks for the info, we appreciate it. I looked them up and they are fairly inexpensive for the set. We just may invest in them. We haven't done anything yet, just looking into it at this point. Have to save up a few dollars so it will probably be later on in the summer before we get to tackle it.
