I have had a sound coming out of my car for a while. A little clicking noise that sounds like a rattle snake at crusing speeds. What is the best way to check this out. Could i use a tube to see where it is coming from?

Thanks,
Tom

I would through a rat in the interior overnight and see if it is gone in the morning. It could be a speedo gear. Have you changed it out at all.

I had the same noise. it turned out to be a nail in my tire, and every revolution of the tire it would sound. Check out your tires all the way around.

Put the crusie control on and start climbing around.. You'll find it...

If your alignement is off ahve a buddy move around the car to find it... I ahve done this in the past... Locate wehre, then open it up and keep looking until you find the culprit.

Sorry that I didn't tell you before but, It also does it at idle so I think it is more of a leaking or pulley problem.

It can still be the cats. My friend's 92 Camaro (boo!) had the same kinda rattle, even at idle. You couldn't hear it on the road much due to road noise, but it was very audible at idle. She hasn't bothered to fix it yet, but it's definitely the cats.

Yeah, I know all about that rattle. When I had my BBK cats it rattled like hell then I decided I didn't like dealing with expensive cats anymore so I got the off road. It will stay there until I get in trouble. That can't be the problem. But I do hear it coming from in the engine compartment and when I look under the car I can really hear it. kind of like a tick or click. But like I said before It sounds like a rattle snake a cruising speeds.

Thanks for the replies,
Tom
