just curious when i change my thermostat and put the gasket do i need to put any sealer (silicone etc.) on it, and is there a certain direction to put the thermo, or will it only go in one way, dont want to mess up......

if i do need to put any sealant what kind of sealant??

also i got a new water neck or water outlet whatever its called....do i also need to put a little sealant around that too????

thanks for any help :nice:

Make sure the core is faceing engine. The pointy thing is towards the rad. That core has wax inside and melt at certain temp 180,193 ect.Youll notice a round grove aprox same size as therm in neck that therm has to rest down in that grove gasket over that them match too lower intake.Do not over torq!!torq evenly and same time. The rtv I use VERY little mainly to hold therm in that grove. Some therm gaskets have adhesive to hold every thing inplace. If you leak them either too much rtv or the therm has fallin out of grove.

I used a gasket and just a little RTV red to hold it in place when I put the water neck back on there. It works fine, and it's a little extra insurance.

EDIT: Hey are you putting in a colder t-stat? Like a 180* or something? Because I just switched to a 180 when I swapped intakes, and now I think the stang is gonna run to cold now that winter is coming. Something to keep in mind.
