I was thinking about getting into an 03 or 04 Cobra. Right now I have an 03 GT vert, manual trans, loaded with premium package with 11,000 miles.

I was wondering what you guys think a fair price difference would between mine and a 03 and 04 vert Cobra?

I was also wondering if there is a big difference between the GT and Cobra. I know the horsepower difference is there but is really worth the extra money? The 0 to 60 times are about a second a part...is that worth spending alot more money for?

Thanks!

Go test drive one and see for yourself . That's what I had to do as well and fell in love with the Cobra .

Exactly ... it's too hard to quantify "what's worth it".

If you plan on modifying your GT to the same level of a Cobra. It would boil down to IRS preference.
If you want a stronger daily driver then the Cobra is the choice easily.
the differences are significant enough to warrant a drive and a few quiet moments.

For some those quiet moments constituted ... turning the key off and after parking the car in the driveway.

That one-second is about six car lengths, and that’s without mods. You can expect another second off that with a $3,500.00 investment.

So I went to my local SVT dealer and test drove the Cobra. It was pretty impressive and I started to talk numbers with the salesperson.

We negotiated a bit, the salesperson went back and forth to the sales manager and we came to my car (03 GT vert, 11,000k) plus $11,200 to get into a brand new 04 cobra vert.

In my opinion, this about $9,000 less than it should be. He wanted to close the deal but told me to take the night to discuss with my wife to decide and said that his offer was good to 6pm the next day. I went home and worked the numbers every which way (by the way I am converting the numbers to US dollars as I am in Canada the sticker on the Cobra was $52,900 CDN ($41,000 USD) and my car in my mind is worth about $26,000 CAD ($20,000 USD)) So to clarify, I should have been paying $21,000 (usd) to go up to the Cobra not $11,200....a good deal indeed!

Anyways, I went back to the dealer the next day to do the deal and the salesperson said that the deal was no longer on the table. I told him that he can't go back on his word...I have 3 witnesses that heard you say that the deal was good until the next day. He said that the sales manager ran the numbers again and it was not going to happen. He then told me to call back in two weeks when the "top guy" would be back from holidays.

So I left the delaership pretty upset. How can they tell me a price and change their minds? Do you guys think I should complain to Ford or the sales manager? I think that the deal is too good to pass up...I should fight back What does everyone think?

Get on the internet and do a search! There are still brand new '03 model Cobra's sitting here and there that can be had for 31K!!!! They just started giving 3K rebates or 0% financing on the '04's too! Shop around, you can do better.
