I was thinking about a budget combo and I am very new to 4.6's. I have a 96 gt 5 speed coupe....

Ported/polished stock heads/ Stage one or two vt cams/PI Intake

70mm or 75mm tb?

MAF-?

Long tubes/off road pipe/ catback

3.73's

About how much power? Any input would be good..... :flag:

You would be looking at 260+ rwhp with that setup using 91+ octane. Not sure if that seems like a budget mod since all those parts listed total over $2,000. 4.6 SOHC performance parts are expensive compared to 5.0 parts. If you want a true budget mod go with some PI heads, cams and intake. However, the absolute cheapest mods that will work with 87 octane, are literally bolt-on and give at least 25 rwhp: PI cams ($75) and PI intake ($160). I used adapter plates ($100) for the PI intake but many say they aren't needed. BTW, I used an Anderson tool ($29) to swap in the used 2003 PI cams and it was easy. The stock tune ($0) will also work fine with these mods. The PI cams and intake will make good power from 2500 to 5500+ rpm's. Good luck.
