Its a VIN Decoder and I plugged in my VIN # Just for the hell of it but when I did it came back showing that its a GT not a Cobra? All the paper work I have on the car and the appraisal says its a Cobra. It has the Cobra lettering across the steering wheel, it says Cobra on the sticker on the glove box, it says Cobra on the sticker on the brake booster and the valve covers? But according to that VIN Decoder its a GT????

When I plug my VIN # into the car fax site it comes up as a Cobra??

Your car is not a pace car is it? Some of the cobras were GT's that got changed to cobra after the fact.

Good call Im not sure though. I never heard of my car being a pace car before hand from the previous owner.

Ive been trying to get in touch with Craig Barker who works for Roush and wrote the authication letter on the conversion on my car. Now Id really like to get in touch w/ him after finding this out.

What is the eighth digit of your VIN? If it's a T, it's a GT/GTS. If it's a D, you have a Cobra.

Its a D, Id say that website sucks. Wonder if it does that for anyone else. I looked pretty reliable

Mine said it was a GT too instead of a cobra. However it does denote the "D" in the "engine type" section, so I think they just have a small glitch in that it pulls the gt instead of the cobra for that field.

well thats good to know its not just my VIN that did it. I never doubted mine was a cobra but when you see that your kinda like WTF
