I just received the rubber wing from ups, a lot of imperfections, creases, dents etc. My body shop said they could not fix the imperfections with filler because it is rubber. I am going to call saleen and see if they can ship a better one..any suggestions.....stories

Good luck. My wing came like that also. Tons of pits and cracks. My paint guy said it took a ton of prep work to get it even paintable. I seriously doubt they will send you another one out. It took almost 2 months just to get mine. I sent numerous emails and phone calls and they told me all kinds of different things. Once they told me that they said that UPS tried to deliver it 3 times and returned it back to them. Strange how I never received any notice from UPS. If the wing didn't look so good after it was cleaned up and painted I wouldn't of went with it. Good luck.

From what I understand most Saleen stuff has a very rough finish and needs a fair amount of prep work. It's not "rubber", it's polyeurothane (sp?), a reputable body shop should be able to work with this though it is a PITA from what I hear. :nice:

Yeah, I think Saleen has pretty much nonexisten customer service...so you might just have to bite the bullet and work with what you have on this one. But once it's finished and on your Stang you'll realize how awesome it looks and how all the trouble was worth it.

My wing came like that too. My body shop guy had a hell of a time trying to smooth out the little dimples and creases. He got most of them out, but if you stare my my wing closely you can see there are still a couple dimples and coarse paint spots.

I had both an S281 and an S351 wing. I have two comments:

1) Yes, the S281 does come in very rough shape. I would find another body shop. Likely it can be worked in its current condition.

2) If you do switch wings with Saleen as you mentioned, I would not bother with that exercise if you are just getting the same wing back. However, the S351 comes in MUUUUCH better condition than S281, and ...IMO... the S351 looks a lot better. That switch would make sense to me. Just something to consider...

Good luck ... post pics when done. :nice:

Ya If they call urathen a "Rubber", find new shop.

I was told any shop that works on Subaru OPEM stuff is your best bet as Subaru OEM stuff I guess comes much like way Saleen stuff does(not in turm of condition, but Subaru stuuff is drenched in release agent like that of S281) as far as fixing goes, It can be fixed using standard Urathen replair process

Yup im in the same situation as you. I've speant all of last week trying to get in contact with saleen. Took it to 3 body shops and everyone of them refused to work on mine. I spoke with one of the managers there for nearly 25 minutes and he offered to pay a body shop to prep it, but no one wanted to take on the job.

the only shop that said they would work on it wanted $500-600 and that i would just keep coming back because it would keep partly detatching itself and the puttying job would not last cuz of how they would have to mount it. They said 10-15 holes in my trunk to get it to stay and that they did not want to do it even tho he is a friend.

Saleen said they would have Fed Ex pick it up and they'd send me a new one out in THREE WEEKS!!! its crap. they said they were all out of them and they are waiting for more....:nonono:

I work at a Ford dealership in the paint shop. YES, we've done tons of them. Infact we've done tons of Saleen body kits. All Saleen stuff is in rough condition, but it's definately fixable. The only reason those body shops say it can't be fixed is because they don't want to stand behind their work. It's really not that hard. You just have to take extra steps to prep the wing. Try taking it to a Ford dealership that has a body shop. I can't believe you'd be turned away by something like THAT!!
