after u guys did your 4.10s , from a roll if you got on it just say 20mph with the stock gears the car down shifted great a took off , now with the gears it dont jump as hard , my thinking is the gearing differant and the car is going to down shift at dirrerant speeds or harder at others now , sound ablut right , and does anyone notice this as well ?????????? thanks

Do you have a tuner to reprogram for the new gears? If not the computer is getting false RPM to MPH readings. My auto responds tremendously at nearly any MPH/RPM.

If you have the stock tune, but has been recalibrated for the 4.10s then it should shift at exactly the same RPMs as it did before. The only diference will be the speeds at which it shifts should be higher. If you are running a custom tune, then everything could be different, but I've had no problems with mine ever.
I'll ask the guy a bunch of questions when I get my car dyno tuned, but there are settings on the SCT for changing shift points both with RPM(which I do know about)and MPH(which I know nothing about).

I have 4.10's and automatic, and I retuned the shifts by rpm, like KoolDawg, not by mph. That may be the difference for you? Maybe it's downshifting at too low an rpm which would result in bog. Glad I have a big stall converter as the revs are always up when I give it any gas, even if the trans doesn't downshift.

If I punch it at 20 mph, it kicks down to 1st and goes sideways on a dry day (with T/C off). Same thing at 40 mph, it kicks down to 2nd and goes sideways on a dry day. Heck, I was doing 60 mph the other day in the rain on the freeway when traffic cleared up, so I punched it, trans kicked down to 3rd and I went sideways into a controlable drift.
