Im looking into a bunch of different stroker kits and was wondering which ones you guys are running and which ones to stay away from. I was looking on ebay to see the brands and i ran across this one

how does that one sound to you guys? what was the process of having your car stroked???

eagle, scat or chp would be the good affordable brands to look for, for a nice street 347. Use a cast crank if youre putting it in a stock block. Forged crank IS a waste of money on stock block sub 500hp builds, AND its heavier.

CHP uses a 5.315" rod in one of their kits, but any of those kits will work great. Its ALL in the machine work and install. Dont believe the 'oil burning' myths.

I am running a 347 Eagle kit. The old 347 kits that used stock length rods had problems. The wrist pin was located right through the middle of the oil control ring. the new kit doesn't have any problems. Mine has about 30,000 miles on it, and doesn't burn a drop of oil.

i also ran across this one by the same person. now tell me, if i was looking for a brute, non-racecar kit, which of the two would you go for?

This kit will handle more than your stock block can take. For a budget stroker, I'd go with this one. Whichever one you get, you'll still need to have all the appropriate preps done.

Yea your gonna need a lot of good prepping for any stroker kit. But yea make sure if you go 347 you do get the new revised stuff if you dont want oil problems. Also, 347s put much more stress on on cylinder walls than 331's and stock type setups so dont plan on revving that thing too high. I hear you can crack a block that way. But like you said its for a street setup, if you keep it below 6500 rpms (which most of us do) you should be fine with that. And yea get a cast crank cuz the block will break before the crank does but invest in good rods and pistons. For a street setup I-beams would be ok but if you really want get h-beams (stronger but more weight). As mentioned call CHP or you can give DSS a call too. There closer to you so it may be cheaper shipping wise to buy from them.

what kind of good prepping? im looking into a brand new block to start with. no sense in trying to run my block into the ground. i found the level 10 dss block. that should do good if im only looking for about 400 hp max. that seems to be a strong block and DSS said it makes 40 hp over the stock block. I rev at 5900 at the highest...ever. I dont think ill need h beams though. So, should i buy the 347 crank from eagle then some probe pistons or what???

has anyone actually used different parts from different places to make their stroker?

I really like the kit under the hyperlink "shazaam". its strong for just a street car. If i buy the Level 10 302 block, this 347, some AFRs, FTI cam, put my Trickflow and full bolt ons on it, what kind of power should i be looking at?

Want a fast 347? Do what I was planning. Have erik from www.horsepowerengineering.com build it with your choice of rotating assemblys. I was gonna use the cast crank CHP kit with the 5.315" rod. Beter AND cheaper than that over priced dss stuff and that "level 10" block. Its just a machined block, nothing special. Same crap erik from HPE would do for less.

Since it seems you want afr's, look NO less than the FTI stroker series 185's, victor 5.0 intake, fti cam 1 3/4" longtubes, 42lb injectors and a 75mm at least TB. Car could go 10's on muscle with a driver and a tire assuming the car isnt a heavy fat pig. 302 parts on a 347 = good low end tq and nose diving power after 5500. Thats weak and a waste of money IMO. The shortblock was priced at $2200 for it ALL including a main support.

hairy, go on hardcore50.com and see what real guys are making. All things simialr given your typical street car, the 347 WILL make MORE power. Your giving up 15-20hp in inches alone. The combo determines the rpm range of the engine. The combo I suggested to him will f'n dominate on the street ;) I was gonna do a similar set up but decided against it because I didnt wanna spend the money. If he was using an aftermarket block and wanted to make real power, i'd suggest the afr 205's, victor 5.0 like i suggested and a jay allen or fti cam. Over 450 to the wire and WILL make power past 7000 if you wanted. For his car, i'd do the fti stroker 185's, victor or tfs r and a custom cam. Put both of that on a 331 or 347 with similar cam and the 347 DOMINATES!!

My combo was gonna be a 10.7:1 347, cast crank, jay allen custom, ported TW heads (xsr most likely) and a tfs R intake.

i actually need to use this car for everything i do. i dont want a 10 sec machine. i just want a 347 with enough guts to stay beside the 03 cobra stock. maybe a little more like 375 to the wheels. i cant see myself using all that gas to run my errands.

Im thinking about selling my 347 stroker motor that makes 375hp and 410 torque. I have a dyno sheet if you want to take a look at it. It comes with everything forge and a main gridle for the extra support. All you need is some heads, intake and your old accessories and your good to go. Im wanting 2,500 obo. Let me know if you're interested.
