Thoughts on the FRPP King Cobra clutch?

I just destroyed a Spec Stage II clutch due to improper adjustment of the UPR quadrant and FWA. DOH!!! While the Spec was a great clutch, I think it was a little to on/off, and surely would have destroyed my T5 over time. So I am looking for something a little more T5 freindly.

What seems to be the general consensus on the FRPP King Cobra clutch kit?

I was looking for a new clutch to upgrade my 10" to a 10-1/2". Everyone I talked to who had one in a street car loved it, so I am in the process of installing one in mine as we speak.

I had a King Cobra and liked it a lot for a daily driven clutch. It didin't like a lot of beating with my h/c/i combo (very similar to yours). I have a Centerforce Stage II now and love it. Softer pedal and holds more power. This is on my daily driver and I'm picky and love the clutch.

If you all think the KC is stiff...do not get the FRPP HD clutch. Even stiffer.

King Cobra...stiff, but holds great for a stock or almost stock powered Stang...

Centerforce...better pedal, holds more power! :nice:

I had a hybrid in my 01 (FFRP King Cobra Pressure Plate + C/F Gold disc)

the results were stiff pedal and even more holding power than the King Cobra disc that got ruined by a bad front seal in the t-45...

the only complaint is it's harder to modulate the clutch when you'r launching, but you get a better feel for it unlike the C/F which is a little more on/off than I like...

if that made any sense :D

The King Cobra is supposed to hold 30% more power than stock and so is the Gold Series CF. :nice:

I do agree...it does seem like the King Cobra gives you a slightly better feel to it if your trying to launch. I wouldn't trade my CF Stage II (except for the higher price) for the King Cobra. I could bark 3rd gear (non-powershifting) when I put in the stage II and couldn't with the KC.

I am confused with the terminology. I bought a King Cobra from Astro Wareouse and it is make by LUK in South Africa. Is this the same as the Ford King Cobra clutch? It was only $169 so maybe I got what I paid for?? I will be installing this with a 2.95 gear set and a rebuild kit as I now have too much gear with my 3.73 rear ratio. My car is all bolt ons and probably not 300 HP. Street only car in which the original clutch and trqanny lasted 125,000 miles.

I have one in my stock car, i love it

I dont know why people say its stiff. Its really not, too tell you the truth people scared me so much about it being stiff, when i started my car, i had to go back to the shop and have them show me my old clutch to make sure they changed it cause i didnt believe them. It feels good though. I tried my best not to get on it for a good 400 miles, after that for like 300 miles my car felt really slow. Then after it was really broken in i guess it felt like it did before.

I can chirp third every single time with my KC and thats not powershift, or dumping the clutch when i shift

heres 3 vids you can hear it everytime:(you might have to turn up your volume camera is alittle weird with sound)

i have a KC in my car and i like it. when the car was (NA) it held great and i could chirp 3rd and 4th if i wanted. Now that there is a charger on the car im having a problem getting it to hold doing 2nd gear burn outs. The weird thing is that the clutch grabs hard enough that on the street the car spins half way through 3rd gear on a hard 2-3 shift. The pedal feel is fine to me. My clutch doesnt start to grab until it is 3/4's of the way off the floor. can anyone tell me if the clutch might be out of adj. I also have an adj cable quad. and firewall adj. from summit. If i were to turn the fire wall adj. what excactly am i adj.

Thoughts on the KC clutch ...

:notnice: ... pedal is too stiff for my liking.
Even just pushing it in once drove me nuts.

Not that I would never buy one ... but money would be the only factor ... I mean a lack there of.
