Roger that.

Any specific areas/angles I should photograph on a Fox like this?

obviously, get some of the corners of the engine bay up front. the upper tie bar will show a previous crash many times. some fox owners can chime in on specific problem areas.

Also in the engine bay check to see that the fenders are the exact same color as the fender well where they meet. Don't take for granted the line test. Spend time to make sure that all of the lines (doors, hatch, fenders and hood) match up with their respective counter parts. Check for the factory "ford" stamp on body parts where applicable. Check tire wear. Could be bad alignment, but also may indicate a twisted unibody...

Oh yeah, here's one from my neighborhood if you can't find one out there!!

Being an AZ car, the usual check for a rusted out hatch or floor under the accelerator pedal and in the same corner on the passenger side probably doesn't apply, but it wouldn't hurt to look regardless.

There is another contender in the mix, if I can convince a family member to part with it. Here it is...

1989 5.0 LX Hatch
Black, some red striping with/behind the side moldings
Porno red / black interior
5 speed
probably around 200,000 miles, maybe a tad less
owned since new, mileage was all on I-57
no leaks
always garaged
bone stock

I've told him to never part with it before consulting me first. Should I call him up and make him and offer or just shop locally with the prospects here?

Both - i'd make the family member and offer while shopping the prospects. This way if the family member falls through, there is no setback

let me know if you can manage to find an auto 5.0. i live in south central iowa. i know of a clean notch that has a cam(idk if it's too much, the guy had to give it some gas when it was cold so it wouldnt die), edlebrock intake, bbk headers. it has cobra wheels but the front are still 4lug and the rear are 5lug with disc brakes, t5, no a/c, i can get more info if you would like.
