throw out bearing

you could have a worn clutch release bearing (throw out I think) or damaged main drive gear bearing or worn countershaft bearings or bad countershaft end play shims. Does this help?

this sucks. i guess we will see when i take it out, hopefully i could find another tranny for cheap that works good if it isn't the throwout bearing. i know the throwout bearing looks cheap. it is a timco most of it is plastic and the only metal visible is the contact area.

ok it goes away when i push the clutch when it is in or out of gear. when it is out sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't but when i give the gas a small tap it makes the noise. is it the bearing.

I think it depends on how you have your cable adjusted. Do you have slack in your cable? If you do, then maybe it could be the bearing, since when you step on the pedal the bearing contacts the plate and makes the noise. If you don't have slack, the bearing would make noise more of the time then not, since it is always going to be contacting the plate fingers.

ok i think i got it fixed, i drained what little fluid i had left and put 3 more quarts in and now i can't make the sound come back. still have to wait to drive it though to find out any potentially dangerous damage.

Mustang throw out bearing are "constant Velocity" bearings.
Which means they are lightly touching the pressure plate "fingers" and are always turning with the clutch assembly.
With a bad throw out bearing, it will make the most noise with the clutch pedal in the up position.
Hope what I wrote helps...
