What do you think my gain would be with a set of thumper heads and a "b" cam? or possible "e" cam? Also what kind of et's if possible. see sig for current mods

thanks

I run them with a Tmoss lower, 1.7's and stock cam and love them (AOD w/170k miles so no times). Don't know what you'll run, others will speculate. Do a search, RIO5.0 has numbers posted and maybe times. Mike (Thumper) is a real good bloke. You will however run into two Very Emotional point of view's as to how much money should be sunk into "stock" parts.

Looking in your sig....

...trick flow track heat upper and lower, edelbrock 65 mm t-body,cai, mac equal length shorties, o/r h-pipe, flowmaster 2 chambers...

... You NEED heads. You have upped the flow on everything but left one bottleneck untouched. The TFS track heat is overkill on stock heads. Thumper heads would make a huge difference, maby if you have the cash go with some TFS or AFR heads but they will cost more than twice when all is said and done.

I've been running thumper heads for about two seasons right now. Stock valves with the double springs on B cam with 1.7RR's. My best times on the 1/8th were 8.4 at 82.8mph with a 1.9 60ft. I can only launch from about 2Krpm due to traction. Since my last visit to the track I have done some work and have some new goodies waiting to be put on next week I hope. Once I learn this some more I am going to go back for a rerun and maby a better track, I am hoping for 8 flat or better.

Cool, thanks for the input. I was thinkin of gettin either the tw or afr 165's but then came across an article about thumper heads so I figured I'd ask. I do plan on my 331 by this winter (hopefully) So I might just wait to get the tw.

90mustanggt, how does the "b" cam idle?? I like the lopey idle.

Thanks again

Nick

EIGHTH MILE CONVERSION
Your quarter mile ET would be: 13.10
Your quarter mile MPH would be: 104.58
These are rough estimates, but shouldn't be that far off.

Thats not shabby at all.

My Buddy bought a used set of thumpers with 1.7 rr a e cam and cobra intake stock bott end he ran 12.24 @ 114 mph on a 100 shot.
