I need some major help here fellow stangers. I have this ticking problem that has been going on for about 2 weeks now. I first noticed it when I was on a back street acclerating pretty hard (up to 110), and then there was this ticking noise. I stop the car and took a quick listen but the roads were congested so I couldn't do too much. So I panicked of course and drove another 10 mins to get to my house. Now here's the strange thing... the noise disappeared after I got to my house. I couldn't hear it at all, and everything sounded normal. But I took her out again today and after I got on it a bit, there was the noise again. It seems like it's only present when I am accelerating pretty hard, and it sounds like it's coming from underneath the car around the oil pan area. What could this be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you have a pinging problem. i had the same problem, it would make a pinging noise under hard acceleration. I started using premium 93 octane gas, and it took care of it, it comes back every once in a while, but nothing major, higher octane makes it run better too.

But it makes the noise at idle and when I'm cruising sometimes.

How many miles on the car? When was the last tune up also what is your timing set at? My car did that before I put the stroker in. Changed out the rotor, plugs and wires. I also ran some octane boost and it went away.

When you accelerate hard, and the ticking noise starts, it's likely "pinging".

The noise you hear when at idle is likely your valvetrain. It's isn't the quiestest motor.

Just my thoughts. Not 100% sure, just throwing that out there.

If it was the valvetrain what would you suggest be done? Thanks again.
