OK, here's the setup. My 89 LX 5.0 Vert (AOD) is completely stock except for exhaust (flowmaster and h-pipe), and soon to be installed 4.10s :hail2: !! So what I need to know is what should I set my timing to, to get the best out of my car? This may sound like a stupid question, but when it comes to cars I'm pretty ignorant. Also, what should my timing be in stock form? Thanks in advance for any information. :flag:

You will almost always get more performance out of advancing your timing unless you are running a power adder or had a chip(super chip, autologic, etc.)burned for the car and installed already. Then you would want to leave it at 10. Mine is set at 18 right now. Every car is different. My combination may like more than someone elses. My setup will like more than yours b/c of the h/c/i/ setup over a stock setup. Go ahead and bump it to 14. It will take that easy. It is also a trial and error thing to be done at the track between rounds to see how the car responds. Your stock computer will not do anything to negate the positive effects of bumping your timing. Tom.

Try 14 degrees first and if you dont hear any pinging turn it up to 16. My car is currently at 16 and I have a stock motor. Your gonna need to run a higher octane fuel when you bump the timing up.
