ok on my motor the timing pointer is sort of wierd. it has a circle window right over the balancer and timing marks but also it has a place over the balancer where it has a flat edge. is anybody following this description. do i line the flat edge up with the correct timing mark or do i center the timing mark in the circled window above the balancer.

Use the flat edge.

I also would like to know what the circle and the middle small circle with slot is for ? I am now using the straight edge forward, towards driver’s side with some great success but still curious?

I believe it is a standard pointer.

You time the motor off of the flat edge.

I’ve always been told and heard the full circle is for a magnetic pickup for a distributorless setup.
