Whats the biggest tire with 17'' rims that I can go with on my 90 gt. I have a upr k-member and adjustable rear contol arms. How low can I lower it also? I defintly dont want tire rub but I want the car to sit low. Please help.
I agree on the front size, i would get the same sidewall though on both tires, or possibly a bigger sidewall on the rear tires. Personally, i like the look of 275/35 rear and 245/35 front. You shouldn't have any rubbing problems with that.
If you want to lower the car, you need to look into some springs. Adding bigger rims and tired is only going to increase the fender gap, therefore adding to the 4x4 look.
I just picked up another Fox for a DD and I will be using the 98 Cobra 17x8 wheels with 245/45 on the front and 275/40 on the rear. Its a 90 LX hatch that is already lowered and converted to 5 lugs. From what I have seen the 275 is about the widest you can get without messing around with crazy offsets and such. But I have seen a couple that had exhaust issues in the bend by the gas tank, clearance kinda gets tight through there so you need to watch it if you have larger diameter tailpipes.
i have a 1990 gt, i swaped 4 to 5lug, put cobra svt rims on.. 17" i got gforce on the front 245x17 i think and micky thompson street slicks on the rear those are 275/40r17 and there10.2 wide.. on the rear they rubbed and i had the rear fenders curled proffessinally curled so it dont mess up the paint thats important.. wasnt that costly either!
i have 245/45 all the way around and the front rubs like a bastard,and not at all in the back(yet another reason not to go hog hunting, it might rub with big girls in the back) of course my car is very low, i have coil overs so not sure how far but at least 2" in the front and 1.75" in the back, i am going smaller sidewall when i do the 5 lug convo this winter, i may have to raise it after that anyways
