Hi.I recently inherited a 71 mustang convertible. my dad evidently put 225 70 15 all the way around at some point.im getting rub on the front when i turn to the point its damaging tire and chrome fender trim rings.i believe 205 is the proper size for the front.can i roll the fender or should i raise the front end with spring spacers or get a different brand of correct size tire.mickey thompson didnt make a 205 in that model of tire.i sorta like the tire.id like to get the car right as i go this is just the beginning of some issues that ill be straitening out.
the car looks as if it squats towards the back anyway.it also looks a little low all the way around as you can see.

That car is 40 years old...those are Probably the original springs. You need to get new springs all around to restore the car to its original height.....or you can buy springs that will set it a little lower than original height, regardless you need new springs, the old ones are more than likely really soft. As far as the tires go, not sure what the original size was, but you should probably go back to that size if you want to keep the car low. I am running into a similar issue, the rear of my 67 is low....but i liked it, so i lowered the front to match (sort of) anyway, the trouble i have is my leafs are just slap wore out and whenever i hit a good enough pothole or cross a bridge my rear tires rub...my solution, new lowering leafs, the height will be close to what it is now, but the springs are stiffer and wont compress as much (i hope)

Ty i found a guy locally that does custom springs.so im just waiting on him now to set up a time to go show him what i want. todayi developed a turn signal problem.hopefully its just the flasher relay.

Hi
While it's true those springs could be suspect, an alternative is to reduce the tire profile to "60". That is, run a 225X60X15 tire. This tire is 25.6" dia vs 27.4" for the "70".
Good Luck!
