Tire pressure for street racing??

Gonna do a little street racing this weekend. What is the lowest tire pressure u can run on street tires. I've got Yokohama AVS A-100's. Does tire pressure really matter for street racing with this brand tires. Had heard they can be lowered to about 18 lbs. Thanks for your comments

I understand your concern JC. This is waaaaay out in the country on a barely driven road. I dont run up and down Houston roads and race.

Funny thing is, I used to think the guys that said "take it to the track" were preachy. I've never had the opportunity to street race (not much action in rural Ohio) so I can't say I've turned it down. But having gone to the track (finally) I was amazed at what fun it was.

Either way, just be careful, man.

Eh Street racing is a touchy subject with some people. I raced an SS today so I cant talk much.

Street racing should be something where you just happen to meet a guy you want to race, he follows you out of town, you go at it. If you're going to go through all the trouble of lowering pressure and running your tires down like that just go to the track.

My tires look like theyve lost some pressure but I just havent put more back on there.

When I call someone or get called out to race, I make sure I do a nice smokey burn out. Cant get traction for chit without it.

That is actually a great idea....going way out in the country.
When (and I hope you don't) you crash the ambulance will take that much longer to get to you and save your life.

quickly running up to the speed limit is one thing, but premetated SR is messed up.

Street race but for $$$$. Try 20lbs on a streeet tire I had my nitto drags at 17. Proud supported of street racing (preferably for money)

OK first I'm gonna say take it to the track.
Second street tires need to be at the normal operating pressure to ensure full contact patch with the road.
Do a short burn out and look at the patch it leaves. It should be as wide as the tread face narrower indicates too high pressure with no light spot in the middle indicating low pressure.
