Tire Question

I have a 2007 GT California Edition with the factory 18" polished bullitt wheels (currently running 235/50zr-18"). I'm not sure but I think the wheel diameter is 8.5" (maybe someone knows for sure). I like the looks of the factory wheels. However, I want to go with wider tires without messing with the TPMS (tirerack wants $450+ to fit new ones). What tire size options do I have with the stock wheels?

You are correct in that the 18" rims are 8.5" wide. A 255 works fine and I've seen people say 275s work as well, but it seems like most tire companies recommend a rim wider than 8.5" for 275s.

Depending on what tire you get, some are wider than others. I have 10" front wheels with 275/35/19 BFG KDW2 and they sit flush, an 8 1/2 rim would cause the to buldge out a bit.

a 255 would look nice in front.

actually some of those wheel are 8 in wide.. i havent seen one yet but i know they are out there.

The factory 18"s are 8.5" wide and the factory 17"s are 8.0" wide.
