Tire Recommendations Please

I've got mismatched tires from the previous owner on the car:
Fronts: Yokohama A550V, 245/50R16
Rears: Bridgestone Potenza RE910, 245/50R16

The front passenger tire developed a bulge, probably after being low on pressure since I believe someone yanked my valvestems.

Anyway, I'm running 16x8 Rohs and am in the market for 4 new tires. I don't put a lot of miles on the car so rotating them is not a big issue. I was thinking some fatter tires on the rear and the same size I have now on the front? What are you guys running and what do you recommend for larger size in the rear?

I run the Nitto 555r's in the rear with 245/50/16. and 225/50/16 kumho ecsta's up front. I tried to put 245/50/16's up front but they rubbed like crazy on every little turn or bump.

If you looking for some nice traction check out Nitto or BFG.

I would not go any bigger than 275's in the rear on an 8" rim, even that is pushing it.

ive been using 225/55/16 BFG's up front and 245/50/16 BFG's out back on my 16x7.5's, and 245's all around on my 17X8's.

Considering I have had a 275 out back for about a week, Id recommend 245/50's in the front and maybe some 255/45or50's in the rear.

A good thing to remember, expecially in 87foxstangs, case is that assuming he has an 87, his front fenders are smaller and your 93 has a good 3/4" MORE clearance which ford gave for the 1990+ pont rims.
...you shouldn't have near as much rubbing....you could even go wider in the front maybe, but then the car will want to "drive itself" all over the road

FYI...i have both types of fenders on my car

Thanks guys. I'll look into the Kumhos, I think the Nittos might be a little expensive. As for the BFGs, are they g-force super sports or KDWs?

Anyone else running a different tire?
What about Falkens?

I run 225-50 16 bfg kdw fronts and 255-50 16 bfg drag radials. They fit nicely in my opinion.

A great deal are the Falken Azenis RT-615s. Absolutely the fastest street-legal tire in corners, and the best drag tire with the exception of slicks and drag radials. They are super cheap, too. Not to mention they look killer.

I dont mean to thread jack but i noticed sombody mention that 90+ foxes have a slightly bigger fender? I kinda new that but I didnt understand what part of the fender was bigger, any help please?

Yes, the flares were slightly bigger to accomodate the ponies in 1990.

I personally am not, but they will be my next summer tire. A 225/50R16 all around would work. You won't notice an incredible difference going from a 245 from a 225 out back. Being able to rotate them is a big plus.

i'm running the BFG kdw's, but not the same size as you're asking about, 275/40/17's, but they hook pretty damn good if you ask me. I did a lot of searching before i ordered them, and they seemed like the best compromise between traction and tire life. they cost me about $800 for the 2 rears, so i didn't want to be replacing them in a year on a car that is only street driven....

i'm running BFG kdw 275/40/17's out back, bfg (???) 245/45/17's up front, btw. i went from 245's to 275's in the rear, and they look, and hook, MUCH better than the old 245's..... i know its not the same size as you need, but go as big as you can out back. you'll be pleased.

as sort of a quick way to tell, the 'bigger' fenders have nearly the same exact look as the rear fender flares.....on the pre 90 cars they look half as big.

the bigger ones stick out about 3/4" more

How have those 555r's been? I wanted tp get those or the NT-01's, but with a treadware of 100, i'm a bit nervous they are going to be needing a change way too soon.
