I know that there have been hundreds of threads on tire size, but I could not find one that answered my question....

I have 65 Fastback with 14x5 Styled steel wheels. I am going to buy some BFG Radial T/As for my car and I am tyring to find the sizes that will look the best. My initial guess is 185/70s up front and 205/70s on the rear. Has anyone ever tried a 215/70 on a 14x5 inch wheel? The recommended rim width is 5.5, but I would think it would probably work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Pictures would be great!

I tried 215/70/14s on the front of my '66 and got some rubbing with 6" wheels. I changed to 205/70s and all was fine. The car had 195/70s when I got it and it looked good. I would guess you'll get about the same results, even with the more narrow wheel.
BTW, I'm using BFG Radial T/As.
