currently I have stock 225/60/15 on stock wheels on my 89 coupe.
I'm putting the 93 chrome cobra repops from LMR.
I can purchase w/tires 255/40/17 mounted. I think I would rather have 245/45/17 they would be closer to the stock diameter.
I guess what I'm asking what size tires are you running on theLMR cobra wheels 17 x 8-1/2

I would also run 245/45/17's

Two things would bother me with 255/40/17's. They are shorter, and also a 255 tire on front of an pre-91 might be a bit tight. A 245 would be a slight stretch on an 8.5" rim, but should work. If I was buying tires for this, I'd probably do 245/45/17 up front and 255/45/17 out back. The rear tire would only be 0.3" taller than OE size, and would fit better on the 8.5" rim.

I run 235/45/17 front and 255/45/17 rear on 17x8 wheels. I could probably manage a 245 up front but I wanted to be safe.

I like your thinking, but at the same time, an extra 10mm of tire width is not worthing giving up the ability to rotate.

I agree with you. In my case, the tires will probably be 10 years old by the time I reach that point.

I'm going to just get the wheels from LMR and get the tires locally. ordering wheels today, sale price is with 10% off.
Thought it would be easier to order combo, comes mounted balanced and in individual cartons.
My concerns is the tire shop damaging the wheels during mounting.Getting 245/45/17

I have a 89 GT that`s oxford white and thinking about Ford`s 93 electric red! I have searched pic`s of GT fox body`s in electric red, but most of them were shaded under tree`s! I really like that red on your 89 coupe, it looks awesome! Could you let me know what red that is and the paint code? That would be so cool! Thank you very much, Chet from Ohio.
