What size tires can I run with a 17 inch 99 Cobra wheel on my 89 LX. It does not have the quad shocks but it is lowered. I'm not sure how much it is lowered because I bought it this way but here is a picture to give you an idea.
Thanks

245/45 will fit. Might try a 275 out back with rolled fenders...then youll just have to see how well the exhaust clears

245/45/17 for sure out back, but it might be front up front. I run 235/45/17's on my 17x8 wheels.

Oh and put some quad shocks back on.

I have Hotchkiss control arms in the back. Do I still need the quad shocks? Again, I bought the car this way so I'm not sure

Yes, even with aftermarket control arms you should run the quad shocks

Yes, you want quad shocks. Just install them backwards so you have extra room, if you really want to save a little more space sn95 quads seem to be a tad bit thinner, and will fit fine.

I have 275/40/17 Nitto drag radials in back on 01 GT wheels with no problems. Granted I don't have tail pipes, but they fit fine. I also have drums so my axles are recessed in more than if you have rear disk. I run 245/45/17s up front with no problems at all.
