Hi guys; I have a 95 cobra and was wondering how wide I can go with the rear tires. I have 18 inch wheels, and 285s, but was wondering how far some people have pushed their rear tire size and gotten away with it daily driving. Mine's dropped 3/4 inch in the back, which brings me to the other question, about how much lowering the car affects available tire width space.

I've got my car dropped with 275's on the front and rear, and I could probably fit another 3/4 inch of rubber under my rear wheel well. The front is amazingly flush, but the rear still sits in a bit. With an 18 I'm not sure, but with 17's, a 285 would be easy stuff

Prob have to remove the quad shocks...but if it still rubs...nuthin a mallot cant cure...hehe

Eades, when you reach into your wheel well, you notice the sharp lip that sticks towards the tire along the edge of the wheelwell...you know what I'm talking about?

Assuming you do, have you ever heard of anyone cutting that out so as to fit a wider tire in there?

if you go with cobra r's then you might need to cut/grind away my buddy here did those wheels and with a 315/35/17. i did 315/35/17's in the rear with the bullets they are 17x10.5 with 27mm off set and all i had to do was remove the quads. i did the ford motorsport's spring's and they are 1 3/4" in rear and 1" in front i beleive and i have 17x9's in front with a 24mm back spacing with 275/45/17's? BTW i put a tape on the tread of the back one's and it's just over 13" across sidewall to sidewall!!! what do you think?

I have the exact same setup as SMOKEDYA...... except I didn't remove the quad shocks... I just flipped them. If I can get these F1's in 335, I'll do that next time around. I will then have to remove the quads, though. And yes, I had to bend the lip in the wheel well up, as I ran into some minor rubbing on bumps. Definitely not a problem.

If you are running bullet's in a 17x10.5 the 335's wont fit the wheel to good! You will eat up the tires cause they really need to be on a 11" wheel! BUT if ya wanna throw money out every time you drive ? I checked into it before i got my 315's and they said they are recomended for a 11" wheel :notnice: Damn and i thought i'd be the only one with 335's :D . As for me removing the quads i did it beacuse i have steeda upper and lower rear arm's and dont need'em peace

When my 315's go south I plan on running a 315 DR or up to a 335 DR. but I have 11in rear rims. My TTII's fit perfect, had to flip the quad (have since removed it when I installed the ssm lift bars)

Bad. Ass. :nice:

i hadreally wide tires on my old car and to fix the problems of the lip use a old good trick

take a metal bat perfeable the smaller fat ones and stick it between the tire and wheel wheel and have some one move the car very slowly back and forth use the bat and roll it around the tire putting small amount of downward force pushing it toward the rim so the end in the wheel well hits the lip and it will start to roll the lip up do this as many times as needed eventual you can get it almost even with the wheel well. i like this much more than grining or cutting becuase
1-it doesnt leave bare metal to RUST!!!
2-keep structural integraty
3-leaves no sharp points at all
4-come out alot better than if you beat the p*ss out of it with a hammer
if the tire does rub it it will just rub and not gouge out your tire
just an idea
