I was looking at tires at www.tirerack.com
I was looking at some BFGoodrich g force tires that I would be getting for the new 00 Cobra R rimz imma get soon which are 18 X 9 in size.

My question is how do you know what size tire to get? for example
below is a tire size..what does the 265 mean? 35? and I am assuming that the 18 is for 18 inch rimz..help
265/35-18

how wide the tires are = 265
how tall the tires are = 35
diameter of rims/wheels in inches = 18

on tirerack.com they have packages that mate up rims and tires, look for the combo and they should show you a 18X9 with comparable sizes

Ummmm...almost, but not quite.

265/35/18

TREAD width is 265mm. Overall TIRE width varies with manufacturer.

SIDEWALL height is 35% of TREAD width (or 40%, 45%, 50%, 60%, etc.).

You're right...the 18 indicates an 18" wheel.

265 is mm across the tread
35 is a percentage calculation from the first number (therefore a 265/35/18 is slightly shorter in diameter than a 275/35/18)

I have 18x9's all around and run 265/35 front, and 275/35 rear. 275/35/18 is identical in diameter to the stock tires, so it won't throw off your speedo calibration which is taken from the rear tires' rotation.
