To do a mail order tune or on the dyno?

I've become undecided if I want to get my car tuned by a local tuner, or have AM's Bamatunes put one on an SCT.

I currently have a Diablo and one of the tuners uses this. The other one who is slightly farther away uses both Diablo and SCT.

I was sort of just hoping to get a safe tune once the Vortech goes on. But, IDC what the power is just trying to keep it safe good fun.

Can Bamatunes write a good enough tune, so when I add like a powerpipe I'll go and get AFR checked.

If you are going with a blower and all, get the mail order tune to get the car road worthy, then take it to a dyno and have it dyno tuned. Now if you have a local dyno tuner that is reputable, let him put a basic tune on it which should be included in the price.

If you have bolt ons, the mail order tune will suffice.

A dyno-tune is typically the better option when it comes to tuning.

However, one thing to consider with a dyno-tune is the experience/knowledge of the tuner. If the guy doing the tune doesn't know his a-hole from his mouth then the dyno-tune is going to come out being completely worthless. Mail-order tunes are still great tunes, but aren't nearly as beneficial as a dyno-tune (considering that its from a tuner who knows what he's doing).

On a basically stock car, like yours, I wouldn't bother with a dyno tune. You already have a programer, so I am guessing you are set up for 91-93 octane.

Wait until you get the blower, have a good street/dyno tune put on the car.

This. :nice:

The basis is because I am about to install the Vortech I currently have. The question was to go with a mail order tune either for a little while I save to get it dyno tuned or to just suck it up and get it dyno tune.

I have to call the tuner and hopefully he can write a base tune so I can drive it the 30 miles to the tuner after I get everything installed.

Thanks guys!

you will need to tune it for the larger injectors to make it to the tuner. using 39-42 lb injectors with 19lb injector tune will make it hard to start or run. if your handheld will let you flash the injector size into it.

the dyno operator can abort if the run is lean. it can save your motor.

Sadly, my Diablo cannot change injector size, I am hoping to just get a base tune, one with a 42lb injectro/LMAF and Focus pumps enough to drive it there.

I can trailer it using my buddy's trailer, but his race car is currently on it and a bunch of other crap.

Have your tuner send you a base tune so you can drive your car to his shop. That’s what my tuner does.
