TOB and Pilot bearings?

Hi All,

I am having some issue with my clutch as I commented in past posts but wanted to ask if this is an easy task and are ther any special tools needed to replace these parts?

Story is my clutch makes nasty scrapping noise when I push the peddle in and release whether or not if the car is running.

So I am thinking it must be one or all of the bearings based on input form a few people in the forum.

can any recommend a good shop in Seattle WA, Eastside area?

TOB is likely the culprit. Wouldn't hurt to do the pilot bearing also but if you go that far you may as well get the clutch too.

There is nothing special to note about a transmission removal other than it can be a pain if you haven't done it before. I'm in the process of pulling mine for the 3rd time so I know the ins and outs. If you decide to do it yourself come back to your thread or search others for advise.

So you're saying TOB can be changed fair easy without pulling the clutch apart and so it a case of pulling the trans away and then TOB is viable type of thing?

I have two Axle stands, one 4 Ton, one 2 ton jack, TQ wrench, no impact wrench gear though. Are there any special tools needed and how long would you say it would take someone that has not done it before but it mechanically minded?

Sorry for the stupid questions but i am trying to asses how much pain it will be

You might need a TOB retainer also. The GT piece is aluminum and when worn can make some nasty sounds when depressing the pedal. Get the steel Cobra replacement part.

Find a write up on a clutch swap and stop after removing the transmission. Then decide if you can tackle it. The TOB slides on the input shaft and rides on the clutch fingers so all you have to do is slide the tranny out far enough to install the new TOB.
