first time ever racing, made 3 passes.

the guy put me in the wrong class. i wanted just time trials, but he put me under mustang radial. but i got 3 runs in, and a best of 13.5 at 103. at my skill level, i'm pretty happy with that. being 18 driving stick for a little over a year now, first time ever at the track.

first run, i pussed out and got on the brakes at the end. 14.3 at 88. next run 13.9 at 102. third run i launched it at 2 grand after cleaning off the tires. got a 13.5.

reaction time was .115
60 ft time was 2.04, i know i can bring this down and drop a couple tenths.
1/8th mile was 8.77 at 82mph.
1/4 was 13.54 at 103.83.


get a sticky tire and the aluminum drive shaft, and more importantly seat time, i should be seeing some bad-ass times.

broke the tires loose on the 1-2 shift, 2-3 shift, and then 3-4 shift. 3-4 was just a chirp.

i was reading on mustang forums i think. theres people that were running 15s the first time, and couldn't get out of the 14s after several runs down the track. so i'm pretty satisfied with the 13.5. but i'm going to be trying for faster hopefully this weekend hah. :nice:
 
With the much cooler weather now and practice launching the car, you may get into the 13.3s or better. The key is finding the sweet spot for RPMs and clutch feathering to get a decent 60' time (1.9s should be fairly easy). Although without getting a decent amount of heat in the street radials, it could be tough getting the harder rubber compound to grip off the line. In the original post, you never stated why you put the brakes on at the top end, but you should stay foot to the floor until several car lengths after the stripe to ensure you don't slow before crossing the line.

i got on the brakes at the end of the first run cause i was being a pansy. haha.

but the other 2 runs were pedal to the floor past the lights.

and i'll heat the crap out of the tires this weekend.
