Been in 140s a few times, wanted to keep going but I really wasn't wanting to have a high speed wreck those days.

I dont know but im some test I think a fox has gone 140 or 145ish, I tryed it on the interstate once with a cobalt ss lol, I dont know how fast I was going but it pulled hard till the end of 4th gear, then shifted into 5th and it didnt pull as hard. then it went kinda slow. I didnt have front end wobblyness or anything, real smooth. Does anybody know what 4th gear tops out at at about 5000 rpm??

I read somewhere that the 5.0's had more hp then 225. And that ford lowerd the hp on paper so the insurance would be cheaper. Or something like that.

Note the km/h. That's a little less than 130mph...

My flame suit is on, and I'm ready for everyone to tell me it's impossible. But, you must know that I don't give a **** because it's all "in theory" bull **** that a stock fox won't do 145+
Anyway, I've had my car with mods in sig, on stock 40k mile suspension, (minus front sway bar ) and 225s on 10 holes (25.5" tall) to about 5100rpm on the stock tach in 5th gear. This is with a stock .68:1 OD t5 and 3.55s. The car was actually quite stable, my only complaint was a little vibration, it had a stock driveshaft at the time. Yes, I know the stock tach is a bit off in the higher rpm. Mine seems to be a couple hundred rpm high at 5k. I know it's not any more than 300-400rpm high at that point, so according to online calculators it was about 143-147mph. I can tell you that it had a decent amount left in it, the rpm was still climbing, but I lifted running out of road. I wanted to borrow my uncle's gps to catch a stock fox at a proven 150mph but it will probably be more than double the hp next time it gets driven.

Close. In 1993 they "lowered" the HP ratings from 225 to 205. Ford said they came up with a "new" way to measure HP in there motors.

The fact of the matter is that the motor in a 93 is identical to a 92 with the exception of material the pistons were made out of. The whole thing was a ploy by Ford because there new Mustang was coming out in 94 and only made 215HP. AGAIN, the 94 was a 5.0 but they used a different intake because the past 5.0 intake had hood clearance problems. So with the new intake it only made 215 hp.

So it looked better if they went from 205 to 215 HP. If they didnt change the rating in 93 they would have had to go from 225 DOWN to 215. Just doesn't work.

Sounds about right to me. The actual power level definitely didn't drop in '93, because I've seen some extremely strong running '93s. It should actually run a little better considering the cast pistons would be lighter than the previous forged ones, and everything else being identical. Whatever their theory or reasoning was for changing the hp ratings, it must have worked because they obviously sold plenty of them!
