Well, I finally got some time to work on the car today. Went smooth for the most part. The lowers were a breeze, took about an hour for both sides.

The uppers, well that was another story. Took out the upper control arms, the cat back off too. (needed more room to drill) That was about another 3 hours. Also found out I need new bushings in the rear where the uppers attatch to the housing. And to top it off, now there's some annoying squeak in the suspension on the right side. I guess when I do the bushings I'll look into that then. Here's some pics from today!!

Great job. I actually had a someone else put mine in at the same time I had new subframe connectors installed. I passed on doing them myself specifically because I did not want to drill the uppers. I didn't tell the guy about it, but when I went to pick the car up he said how much of a hassle it was to drill out the uppers because of the angle. The insulation on the floor was never scrapped out so I am going to have to take them off and do that myself.

What brand did you use?

They were UPR's I got for free from a buddy!!!:nice:

Precisely why I try to do everything on my car myself!!

The uppers weren't that bad, just time consuming is all. And drilling at the angle wasn't as bad either. There were holes already there that I used as guides. Just had to keep the drill straight. I have a modular SLP cat back so it was easy to remove. Anyone w/ an older style catback would be a bigger problem.

I hear ya. I probably would have done it myself if I wasn't getting the subframe connectors replaced at the same time. Did you have a helper with you to keep the bolts from turning while you were tightening the nuts?

Just for the ones for the uppers. they have the nylock nuts. I got one of the guys in the shop to help. The rest I just hit w/ an impact and they tightened right up.

Thanks for the info. Now I will know when I redo mine. I am just going to do the lowers. Am I correct in assuming that I will only have to pull the four bolts out that hold the plate in and not the one that bolts up to the control arm? That will make this a 10 minute job with the impact wrench.

I actually shouldn't have said redo them. What I meant was take off the plates inside the car on the lowers so I can cut out the sound deadening material. I have wanted to change the bolts around for a while now also because they were put in from the bottom of the car.

It probably would not hurt any to have them welded in place too.

I just got mine in too, and just finished stripping all that junk off the floor. but what im wondering is how hard is it going to be to weld them from the bottom side? (there isnt much room to get a welder in there)

I did my upper back in December. Since I moved last year and haven't made any dependable friends yet I had only my wife to help me tighten the bolts up. I made interesting use of cinder blocks to help her hold the wrench up top but we got it done.

I put my double adjustable upper put in at the same time. They were budget items and the rod ends were junk from day one. There's a nice set of QA1 rod ends there now. I used the middle of the road self lubricating rod ends.
