i went to the track for my first go around with my new mods in the car. the car pulled extremely hard but the numbers dont sound right. i beat 13 second cars on the street from a rolling start all the time so i am guessing i am losing me e.t. from the launch, which is what i dont understand? i know i didnt just spend 400 for nitto 555R 315 DR's?? but anyways here are the times. let me know what u guys think.

RUN#1
60ft------2.116
1/4 e.t.---14.906 (i let off after third gear in this run)
1/4 mph---71.76

RUN#2
60ft------2.063
1/4 e.t.---14.211
1/4 mph---101.29

RUN#3
60ft------2.210
1/4 e.t.---14.231
1/4 mph---102.23

RUN#4
60ft------2.236
1/4 e.t.---14.347
1/4 mph---101.52

during each and every one of these runs i spun first second and part of third. should i be doing this with the tires that i have? i did a burnout before each run to get them sticky and dropped the air pressure down to about 15psi? is it possible for me to get low 13's out of what i got? also my mods are in my sig

yea your 60's are really high, but so are your mph.......i would say for launching try from about 3k dump the clutch but only hit the gas about halfway then soon as you feel it grab floor it i was able to get 2.0s and a couple high 1.9's on street tires doing this (but from 2,000-2,500rpms)

How much are you heating up your DR's? With that size tire/DR you definately should not be spinning. I know it is tough, but maybe slow down your shift from 1st to 2nd allowing tires to hook rather than bangin 2nd and continuing to spin.

Instead of dropping your clutch, which by the way wears your clutch out faster, trying "slipping" the clutch out. Basically you hold your throttle at about 2-3,000 rpm, and rather then just let the clutch out quick (drop), lift the clutch up and at the same time apply slight throttle, once you have the clutch almost all the way up, put the gas to the floor. When you shift into second, don't slam the gas right away, "finesse" the gas pedal down rather then mash it. With your car you should easily be pulling fast times. Even though you have drag slicks, she can still break the tires free. Tire spin hurts the most on the track, so try to push the car to the point just before the tires break free each time. Once you get rolling pretty good, you shouldn't have to worry about tire spin.

Granted launching takes alot of practice. I'm not a pro at it either, but my uncle drag races (bracket) with a 67' Mustang (all out drag car), and that was his advice to me. When I used to race a Dirt Modified, wheel spin coming off of the corners just killed lap times. Another option you have, is make some suspension modifications. One common problem is too much power for the suspension to efficiently transfer the power to the wheels. Softer springs with a high rebound rate shock will squat the weight right on those DR and once you get moving, they'll throw the weight back to the center.

I'm not an expert, but I've raced on Dirt Tracks for about 4 years and I've learned quite a bit about suspensions. :flag:

i tried launching from 4,000rpm's a couple of times and then i would try from idle a few times. nuthing seemes to help and slipping the throttle didnt do much as well...i have other track times but they are all in the same area as these so i only put the four up there. but even when i would feather the throttle it would start to break the tires lose everytime i would try to get into it.

First of all no need to spin ur tires before running... Second of all you have enough power for 13's easy!!! Like your times are equal to stock 99 up gt's... Now you have pi headswap... cams... and gears... Did you have a dyno tune??? Buy some rear lower control arms... And before them Just practice on it!!!
