Trade a Mach for an '02 Roush 360R?

Am I a fool for even contemplating doing this? I'm just looking for opinions. I haven't decided to do this yet. Now I know that the Roush 360R has 360HP & 375TQ, supercharged 2V. The Mach I have is an '04 w/ 310HP & 335TQ stock, N/A 4V. I haven't had it on the dyno since the mods. Should I even be contemplating this, performance wise? :bang:Also note the Mach is the only Mustang made in 30 years w/ a shaker & the only car, to my knowledge, made today w/ a shaker.

Am I just really poor or are ya'll in dehbt up to your eyeballs!? How can you afford to get brand new cars and then trade them in months later :O

I'd keep the Mach, cus it has a great engine. It has a 4v? I thought it had a 3v

It's the DOHC 4v in the Mach, the new GT will get a version of the 3v V8. That's a tough choice, the 360R has tons of wow factor and is a great collectors item. On the other hand, I don't want to say it's a maxed out engine, but you've got a lot more headroom with the 4v motor. I'd enjoy the hell out of the Roush though :D

I checked it out but talked myself out of it mostly because of the fact that I picked up 30HP w/ my exhuast mods, giving me like 340 flywheel. Not to mention that I probably added another 20HP by means of various other mods. I'd dare say my car has 360HP. But I did a stock comparison. 310HP 4V N/A stock vs. 360HP 2V S/C. I will get way more than 50HP out of my car when I S/C it so I opted to keep the Mach.

neither car is a collector car, by the time new cars now are old enough to be collector cars like the 60's cars, we will have alternative fuel vehicles and wont have many gas stations. just imo

For the trade difference blow the mach 1 because it looks cooler imo and 4V are sweet.

Just put BBK full lengths on my buddys stage 3 roush vert , probably pushing closer to 390 at the flywheel now LOL . those headers help out the roush as much as they do any mustang out there .... I ran him and I know I am putting more to the ground than he is but he got me so bad out of the hole because of the great suspension and tires those things came with that I couldnt catch back up to him from a 5mph to 80 mph kick .....

Agreed.

Now the 360R is pushing closer to 360 to the wheels. The Mach's 4V has more potential but is all you're doing are exhaust and intake mods ... the 2V has got ya beat. :D

Tough choice .. both are hot cars.

Is the Roush's internals forged? I don't think they are. Safe tune.. blah blah blah... It will give..

360R is stock internals I am pretty sure , friend hasnt had his dyno tuned but I am sure it is a safe tune , would be interesting to check out though ...

Save your money. There is no perfect car. People can and do go broke trying to chase the dream of the perfect pony. The Mach is probably one of the best factory Mustangs ever made, and I think you can get comparable performance out of either car.

Agreed... I was thinking of going for a Cobra from my 03 Mach.. But really what is the point? Daily street driving the Mach is just as fast as the Cobra. Do I do highway races often? Never.. Is the Cobra's 150 more a month justify the .3 to .5 sec difference I'd get in a quartermile? Which I may go to twice a year? Do I really need a 500 RWHP menace on the street? Nope.. I think of all the money I could save sticking with the Mach, buying stuff for the Mach or saving it. Makes the Cobra not so attractive anymore...

No perfect car out there, you get one you want another.. And going from a Mach to a Roush with the performance really not being a huge difference isn't worth the extra cash.

Only thing I'd trade my Mach in right now for is a Lightning perhaps.. I'm needing a truck a lot more often nowadays.

in the roush's defense , the blower is insanely loud and intimidating , it drowns out my vortech SQ , even though its only 6 lbs of boost since it is a (roots?) blower it builds boost as soon as you stomp the gas and it sits you in the back seat LOL .... where as my car takes off normally quick and then at 3,000 rpms it sits you back even harder than the roush does just takes a split second for you to realize whats going on LOL ....

The Roush 360R is not putting 360HP to the rear wheels. That's flywheel HP, just like the Mach's 310 flywheel HP. & also, if you take a basic 281 ci 2V & set it next to a 281 ci 4V & do the same mods to each engine, the 4V will be the one w/ more HP and more torque, & better breathing capabilities. It is true that the 360R is a somewhat optimized version of a 4.6L 2V, S/C. & w/ only 50 less HP stock, imo I'd say that the Mach is a pretty optimized N/A car. W/ 4 valves per cylinder, the potential's limitless. The 360R doesn't come w/ subframe connectors. I know those suck anyway since they're only bolt-on but the Mach does have them, at least. The only downside to S/Cing the Mach is that it doesn't have forged internals. So after I blow my engine, I'll be dropping a Cobra motor or a 5.0 Cammer Engine in it, though I'd like to keep the shaker functional. Bottom line & sorry for all the wind is that both cars are tight but I think I'll let someone else have the Roush.
