Tranny help!!!

Okay here is the thing...I just bought a T5 from someone who had it out of a 90's 5.0 with less than 100k miles. I put it in with a a new adjustable cable, firewall adjuster, and quadrant. 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and reverse all work fine but i cannot get it into second gear. when I try to get it into second it just grinds. Could it be an adjustment in the cable or is my second gear gone. My clutch engages just about mid way right now. Any ideas?

Nahh, the 2nd gear syncro is gone.

Thats what I thought but I needed to hear it from someone else. Would it be worth it to replace the syncro? How would i go about doing that?

The tranny obviously has to come back out and get disassembled. If you've got some mechanical ability then you should be able to handle it yourself. The Tremec website has a complete manual online you can print out which is a big help. The syncros are pretty cheap so I think its worth it.
