Tranny Whooos

So in the middle of building my 347 track heat topped engine i purchased a t 5 transmission from a CL post. The guy was knowledgeable and had a serious car in the drive.

I know I know I probably got scammed however, It was unfilled, the case refurbed, the internals looked brand new and it was coated in blue transparent assembly lube. He said gears were treated and was a " very serious" transmission.

I installed it in the car with no issues, the new clutch is a centerforce DFX and ford racing SFI flywheel.

Now, it feels nothing like the old T5, which i guess is what i wanted but not to this degree. Using ALOT of force to move the shifter and doesn't feel like its going into any gear properly. The car doesn't run yet, the tranny is a WC type so ATF is in there.

Is it possible this guy built a ridiculous race tranny?
Or i got scammed
Or should i just remove the tranny and have a tranny shop do a once over?

It's also possible that your clutch is out of adjustment and/or that it needs a shifter.

Sitting static isnt going to show how a trans is going to shift. you need the gears turning, and movement of the car to let you see how it is going to shift. get the car running, make sure the clutch is adjusted right and then go for an easy drive. See how it shifts then report back! Good luck!

ok will get her running and adjust the clutch, might be a few weeks however. Any reccomendations on performance tranny shops in the mass area incase I need a proper rebuilt?
