Tremec or Another T5?

well i knew it was coming, my trans has been grinding 3rd for a while and was never able to powershift 2nd or 3rd. the other nite started getting a bunch of noise from inside the trans so i'm sure somethings came apart inside. i'm not sure what kinda horsepower numbers im pushing, just a 306 with ported twisted wedges and a custom grind cam right around .550 lift. I dont really have the money right now for a tremec setup but if i go that way i can wait til i do. what do you guys suggest and for those still runnin a t5 how much hp do you think it will safely handle? thanks for any advice

personaly i would go with the tremec unless u have a t5 magicly laying around like i do to throw in while theu get the tranny(my t5 is going in soon so the tremec can get rebuilt later!)

I went through 6 (yes SIX) T-5s before I was smart enough to get a Tremec... Got a 3550 used... it was basically broke (wouldn't upshift to third and whined like crazy) had to get it rebuilt (700 bucks ouch), but the guy paid for half of it after a year of court battles.... Anywho.. It was the shiot... It would take anything I threw at it.
