yes...that the only way i do it really[I did this and now my car is leaking fluid. When I put it through the shifter I also jacked up the back of the car 3 feet in the air so it would go quicker. Do you think fluid got in somewhere it shouldn't be? Its leaking from the top and where the driveshaft meets the tranny? Any help would be appreciated.

How much fluid did you put it? Do you have the stopper or D/S in the tailshaft?

Why are you all pouring through the shifter??? Isnt that taking more time undoing all that shifter crap and boot?? Your suppose to have the fill hole open anyways so you can tell when its full. You fill the tranny until it starts to leak out of the fill hole. If you are jacking up the vehicle or tranny in anyway, its going to throw off the level at the fill hole, and you could potentially be adding too much fluid. Unless of course, you know the exact amount to add, and you already know how much is in there. Is this a first time fill, fill up, or did you drain the tranny, and now you need to fill it up? If it wasnt leaking before, and now it is, you probably have too much in there. Your best to just stick with the right way of filling it, since it is faster anyways. Undo the lower nut to drain it, and then close it up when done. Then undo the top fill nut, and use a pump until the fluid starts to leak out, voila, your done.

3 Quarts not sure what kinda of tailshaft but it leaks. I definatly over filled it because a good quart all together leaked out,but stoped after it did and just left little drips I checked the fluid level and it was perfect but still leaves little spots any suggestions?
