Trick to installing Vent Window Extensions on 66?

Hi all--

I'm in the process of replacing weatherstripping on the GT and I ordered the Vent Window Extensions (little piece the fits at the top of the vent window and seals it to the door weatherstripping.

The seal came with a small rivet--looks sort of like a pop rivet--but no hint as to installing it. The vendor DID sell a $70 tool--a press, it looked to be--to install this rivet, but I figured I'd have some wind noise before I drop that amount of money on a tool I'll used twice every 10 years.

Any tricks to getting this rivet in? Any tricks to getting the old one out? I assume you drill it out, but I could be wrong. . .

The special tool is the only safe way. You could make a jig and use a hammer but the risk is to the vent window frames. Since they're pot metal, they won't stand much shock at the tip where you need to put the rivet. I did the following:

a. drilled the old rivet and removed the ancient tip
b. used an instrument screw (tiny flathead screw) and hand-made nut to affix the tip instead of using the rivet. The nut was shaped so it fit into the channel. This worked but since the nut was in the channel, it prevented the window from moving to the full up position (bummer!). I lived with it like this but it allowed more wind noise than if I'd left it alone.
