Turbo or Chambered mufflers?

Installing a new dual exhaust on my 83.. Stock Explorer 302, P heads with a TF stage 1 cam.. Shorty headers...
H pipe, NO cats, full exhaust out the back.. 2 1/2".....
I want it quiet, just a step above stock in sound, but not a single exhaust vacuum sounding POS....
Will be using the longest muffler I can find/fit ..
Down to Walker #22393 or Jones Q524B.......
Walker is a turbo, Jones is chambered....
Is it correct to say the chambered muffler will have a deeper, muscle car sound?
The Turbo muffler ( walker ) relies on some fiberglass packing to quiet it..
Both are appx. 19" long in the body, 24" in total length...
Any thoughts on here?

Do not use the 'fiberglass' or whatever packing used today, I'll see what my mufflers are if I can tell, I think they are Walker cheap crap but sound really good, of course there will be a little difference because I have a GT and the pipes are turned down at the end, changes the sound.
Nope, couldn't see a brand or part number, I can tell that the have a V baffle inside from the marks on the case, no other 'tell' , they are NOT flowmasters.

Having had turbo mufflers and chambered on my cars, I'd go with chambered. There's not a lot of YouTube videos on the Jones mufflers to really listen to the tone, but I think I'd give them a shot. Of course, sound is something that is personal preference, so it ultimately depends on what you'd like your car to sound like.....

Here's a kind of apples to oranges comparison - my Cobra with turbos, with chambered, with chambered with glasspacks added, and my truck with a quieter model Flowmaster. Hopefully it'll help with your decision.

All of those were a bit noisy, except maybe for the chambered With glasspacks....
Do you remember what size any of these were? Seems as if 14" mufflers are pretty common.. I will be using 19" ...
Thought of using resonators or like you some small glass packs in front of the mufflers??

What I can say about the Thrush mufflers is that they are loud - that's why I added the glasspacks. I tried to get the longest glasspacks I could in the space I had between the H pipe and the slight bends.

I have some old dual chamber Flow Masters with dump pipes on my 90 GT and it's loud like def waking up the neighbors in the morning.

When I swapped from my 2chamber flows to the straight thru Borla Pro XS, it was noticably quieter, and eliminated most of the drone.

Will the muffler inlet/outlet call out size be the Inside Diameter?

I believe mufflers are advertised as ID's unless otherwise specified whereas exhaust pipe is designated by the OD. If you look at my setup all of the exhaust tubing is inserted into the mufflers before welding.

And this from LMR...

I installed the LAR item today and does it look nice... First class product in my opinion...
Havent' turned a wrench on the Mustang for a few months.. Winter here in Florida, and its a rush to get the outside house projects done before the heat returns... Have to say it felt pretty good working on the Mustang the last two days....

One reason I have not ordered up any mufflers.. Been waiting to install and measure.. Ran a tape measure last night and there is plenty of room for longer mufflers, unless I am missing something? First fox body for me ever....

Are these used for the hangers behind the mufflers?

Are there attachments on a stock mustang muffler to screw into??
I would think running these screws into a muffler body would decrease the life of the muffler drastically?
So if I want to use these slip fit clamps on the rear of the muffler to tail pipe connection

and I wanted to use these, instead of the screw in hangers above

I would have to get some large diameter ones to go around the slip fit clamps and there hold down bolts?
Am I on the right track here?????
