The 3.5 ecoboost has NO lag!I drive a 2000 F150 Lightning....love that supercharger.....low maintenance.....always ready to play.....thinking of one for my 2002 Mustang also but gotta get the cash availble first.
Also drive a 2011 F150 3.5 TT ecoboost.....hate that turbo lag but once it is in, it does move down the road. Still prefer the supercharger.
To me, NOS seems more useful on the track. Playing on the street seems to short lived to gain the benefit of it.
That's not true at all. They're dead as a door nail until you roll the out about a truck length to get them spooled up and they're also lazy until the turbos spool up when you want to pass. They may have "reduced" lag compared to some other turbo vehicles out there, but it's still there. The 3.5 ecoboost has NO lag!
ive had positive displacement cars: 03 lighthing/ Tork Tech kit on my car. That's not true at all. I've driven many turbo set ups that claim no lag, only to feel it, like every other one I've ever driven. You need an awfully small turbo in order to reduce lag so much that you don't notice it… And at that point that little turbo doesn't make the horsepower turbo fanatics all desire.
Go take a car for a ride that has a positive displacement supercharger on it sometime… Then you'll see with no lag is like.
Try not to take this the wrong way, but If you aren't feeling turbo lag in an Ecoboost F150, then I have to question whether or not you actually recognize what it is? I've driven MANY Ecoboost F150's and they've all got measurable amounts of it, that is easily felt. They're virtually a dead pedal until they spool up.....then they hit like a hammer. You can feel it from a dead stop when you have to roll it out a truck to a truck and half length before it comes on and also when attempting to pass. As a matter of fact, I drove the 5.0L TiVCT and Ecoboost F150's quite literally back to back and the 5.0L, while not as powerful, was far more responsive on the throttle. Stab the 5.0L to the floor from a stop, or on the highway, it takes right off. Do the same with the Ecoboost and you can literally get to the end of a "one....two" count before the turbo's build enough manifold pressure to lay it down......then its REALLY takes right off!ive had positive displacement cars: 03 lighthing/ Tork Tech kit on my car.
I have also owned two 3.5 ecoboosts... neither had ANY lag. One had 3.73s and the other has 3.55s
The whole point of twins is to reduce/eliminate lag.
Hell, my current setup on my mustang barely has any noticeable lag
