twisted wedge heads

i just bought tfs twisded wedge heads a tfs stage 1 cam .499 intake .510 exaust and harland sharp 1.6 rr and im wonding if i'll have any piston to valve clearce problems. and how do i check the clearance my other question is with that combo and a rpm air gap intake and a holley 650 dp how muchhp/tq and 1/8,.1.4 mile times could i expect
 
I have the same setup with cam, heads, and 1.6 rr from Harland Sharp. I dont have any clearance problems, but I would always check. Using the clay method seems to work. Do a search on the subject and someone has to have a good write up about how to check.
 
I had the Stage 1 on my TFS setup with 1.6 TFS roller rockers and didn't have an issue. I switched the cam to be CARB legal but I do wish I had that cam back in there. Only thing that can cause a problem is your pushrod lenght that I can see.

Not to hijack the thread, but Ive heard that the trickflow heads are noisy, because they have noticable valvetrain chatter. Is this true. Im thinking about doing the top end of my motor and I have a friend who has TFS heads on his 347 and the car runs great but whenever the hood is up is sounds like the rockers need set.
 
Mine seem to be just fine as far as I can tell. Probably depends more on the rockers that you use than the heads. I got the cheapie TFS rockers but some nice crane or comp cams would probably be especially quiet. His rockers may be out of adjustment too. Maybe somebody else can chime in.

I have new rockers (Ford) and new lifters (Ford). I have tried a couple of different preloads. I still get alot of noise. The issue is not so much the heads, but stud mount rockers. Each time the valve opens/closes there is a side force on the pushrod that pushes the rod into the guide plates. The noise is from the rod hitting the plate.

Maybe the angled valves create more side to side movement in the rods, resulting in more noise?

Well that is my theory anyway. Can anyone support or contradict it?

I talked to my buddy with the 347 and he said that last week he took his car to his tuner to double check how he set everything up. The tuner went through the rockers and said that everything seemed fine, but he still has the same amount of noise.
 
A friend of mine just got the Harland Sharp rockers to replace the TFS's he has on his TFS Twisted Wedge heads. He also had a lot of valve train noise. He was told that the TFS rockers are a standard rocker made to work with a number of different designs. The motor is not back together yet, but the new rockers fit like a glove.
 
I've got Comp Pro Magnum RR's on my TW's and its quieter than when I had the stock heads/rockers. I think that if you're stuff is noisy than you either set the pre-load incorrectly or you've got the wrong length pushrods. ALWAYS measure your pushrod length with an adjustable pushrod, then order them. Even with the Trick Flow kit, I'd still check the wear pattern on the valve stem before I put everything together just to be sure the rocker is travelling right in the center of the stem.
