Okay:

  1. What weight oil should be run in my 5.0? I've been told 20w50 in the summertime and 5w30 in the winter time as options. What are you all running?
  2. What EFI intakes will work on an 87-93? Specifically what year explorer intakes? I have GT40p heads. Currently it is carb'd, but I am slowly collecting parts to change it back. What parts are interchangeable from other vehicles? ECU, intake, etc.?

20W50? No way man. I run 10W30 in my cars mainly because it's a psychological thing for me and I'm comfortable with it.

What year is your car? I'd say if you're not sure of what vehicles to get parts from then just stick to another Mustang for the parts...

Do NOT run 20W50 in your car. 5W30 year round is 100% good. If you suffer from low oil pressure, maybe try a 10W4o, but that is usually not necessary. The whole purpose of multi-grade oils and engine thermostats is so that you don't have to change the type of oil you run when it gets cold outside.

If you're still in doubt, open up your owner's manual, and run exactly what it says to run.

Thanks for the replies. I was told the reasoning for 20w50 was that it would be good for older engines to reduce leakage and blow by. I'll steer clear though.
