Unusual whirring noise

I hope someone has experienced this before...my 91 LX makes an electronic whirring/chirping noise while the engine is running. I can't seem to locate the source but I can hear it while in the driver's seat the loudest. It is not RPM related and the engine must be running. It almost sounds like it is coming from the left dash speaker area but it can't be from the actual speaker as it's not even hooked up.

Anybody ever had this problem and know what the fix is? Thanks.

i was going to say throw out bearing but if its from inside then nevermind. . . . could it actually be the speaker?

well i wanted to say engine noise form the stero but if it isnt hooked up then i dunno, if the wire for the speaker is touching the metal it may still make the noise easy way to tell take out the speaker and listen for it
