So here's the story, ordered a bunch of parts from summit for my head and cam swap and low and behold i get a box from ups that has been opened and reclosed. Missed three items worth 150 bucks or so. So I call summit, they are sending the four items and will be here in time for the whole install this weekend.

I JUST NOTICED that the timing chain box was open slightly and checked inside and I did not see a thrust bearing! So now I'm really pissed, should have looked over the box closer, but I'm missing it. :bang:

Question is how much does a thrust bearing run and what exactly is it for, etc? I don't want to wait for Summit to send me another one, for I have a buncha help over THIS weekend to get the car together. I'm sure you guys will say, you definitely want to replace it while everything is apart and I DO, but geez, what would you guys suggest?

This isn't the first time ups has had to retape my packages, happened with my heads and a tranny before. Sorry, just really needed to vent

that's all mine came with. i searched thrust bearing on summitracing and the last year listed is 85 which has some type of friction wear plate. just use your stock thrust bearing if it's not cracked. that's what i did!

If you look in the description of the thrust bearing, it states that you can reuse your old one if it doesnt look damaged. Also, when you install a new thrust bearing, it is recommended that you get it machined to fit your block. I wouldnt worry about it as long as your old bearing looks fine.
