upside down calipers?

Short version: doing a 5-lug conversion on my '93, and, since I like to complicate my life, I decided to go with 1999 PBR calipers on '94 spindles (keeping drums in the back for now). The stock 93 brake hoses don't reach the PBR's banjo bolt threads.

My question is, is there any problem with using the right side caliper on the left, and vice versa? Doing so moves the banjo bolt port to the top, and gives me enough slack on the 93 hose. If I had stock hoses I would just buy the MM hoses for this application, but I have steel braided ones that I'd rather keep if possible.

So, any issues with swaping calipers from one side to the other? They're physically the same except the bleeder screw will end up on the bottom, and the hose fitting on the top.

correct me if im wrong, but i think the issue is how the caliper holds the pad... if the pad has one end that is supported while the other end pivots in and out, you cant swap them because then you run the risk of the pad pivoting out when it shouldnt.

The problem with the breeders on the bottom is that it allows air to stay in the system. You sill never get it bled correctly.

Correct. The pads will fit in the caliper either way, so you could mount the caliper upside down and have the pads mounted correctly and all seems good. But it'll NEVER bleed, because the bleeders will be in the wrong position and air will be trapped above them. Look for any number of "soft pedal after brake install" threads and see how often it happens.

Thanks for the quick replies, guys. It does make sense to keep the bleeders at the highest point on the caliper. Guess I'll break down and buy the MM lines.
